Apartments GORALNICK’s architects and interior designers have designed a wide variety of apartments since the firm was founded. Styles range from traditional with a French or English flavor to modern with contemporary designs and color palettes. New York offers a rich array of buildings – from Post War and loft conversions to Pre-War – each with new design potential. GORALNICK is known for its unique combination of styles resulting in an eclectic look that includes modern furniture, with antiques, and period pieces. GORALNICK works with new construction, restorations, and renovations. GORALNICK consults with developers of new construction to custom tailor spaces to the needs of the clients. This was the case in the East Side Apartment, a new construction by Robert AM Stern. With renovations, the challenge is to create unique space from the existing outlines. In the Prasada, existing walls created barriers blocking Central Park views. These were opened up in order to maximize views and natural light. In the Flatiron Loft, one large open space was divided into discrete rooms providing privacy and sound separation for different activities, while maintaining the open feel of a loft. In the East Side Duplex, four apartments were combined on two floors into one apartment with a terrace. With careful planning the resulting apartment feels like it was designed as a single living space from its inception. With all residences, space planning is key – how the rooms circulate from one to another gives each room an importance and hierarchy. GORALNICK spends a good deal of time assessing the needs and desires of each client to decide how casual or formal the resulting apartment will be, ensuring that it is beautiful, functional, and comfortable. |
